Commissioner of Education Dwight D. Jones was inducted into the Troops to Teachers Hall of Fame at an event at at the Colorado
Department of Education, Denver.
The commissioner was selected as the first inductee into the Troops to Teachers Hall of Fame based on his long-standing relationship with the Mountain Pacific Troops to Teachers office.
Commissioner Jones worked closely with Troops to Teachers as superintendent of Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 where he established a partnership with TTT to recruit former military members to teach in the district. Throughout his career, the commissioner has continued to promote the mission of Troops to Teachers with the goal to recruit military members with tremendous leadership skills to serve as role models and teachers within our nation’s public schools.
“I
am very proud to congratulate Commissioner Jones on his induction into
the Troops to Teachers Hall of Fame,” said Colorado State Board of
Education Member Peggy Littleton from the 5th Congressional District.
“With Commissioner Jones having lived in the Pikes Peak region, and
where I still reside, we understand and witness the talent pool that
exists in our military community and strive to make the gateway to
teaching as uncomplicated and streamlined as possible.”
